Digging for gold

Recently some houses in Waihi collapsed when parts
of these underground tunnels gave way and they find gold.


Does your family have treasure or do they not
have treasure? You know if they don't have gold
they can always grab there shovel and dig for
gold underground.


Have you ever wondered where the  gold and silver
came from? Well some of it might of came from
Martha Mine at Waihi in  the Coromandel.


In the early days, the mine was underground.
There were 175 kilometers of tunnels, and deepest
shafts were sunk into  the ground.

Every week, about one million dollars worth
of gold and silver is taken out of the rock
